Crane Operator Classes Whitby - Crane operator training is for supervisors and operators of overhead lifting equipment. The course is suitable for both new and current operators. Course content deals with relevant federal, provincial and state safety regulations. The first part of training consists of comprehensive in-class instruction and exam. After that is a hands-on customized session with practical lessons and evaluation.
The content of the course applies to all categories and types of overhead lifting crane equipment. The instruction will particularly focus on all aspects of crane operation that can be performed at the workplace of the trainee. Upon finishing the course, trainees will learn how to operate particular overhead lifting machines, attachments and related parts efficiently and safely.
The operator course's objective is to first identify and potentially dangerous operator habits that could develop when a person operates an overhead crane. Costly damage to equipment and products could be avoided with proper habits. Training reduces the likelihood of a workplace incident or injury taking place.
The course would encompass around eight hours of classroom instruction with a couple of hours of hands-on customized, on-site training. Participants will be graded on their knowledge of training material via an assessment of their practical knowledge and written testing. The minimum acceptable score is eighty percent.
During the in-class session, participants would know applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of damages and occurrences, hazard awareness, internal responsibility, basic equipment and design principles, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, pre-shift equipment inspections, safe hoisting/operating techniques, equipment applications/rigging, kinds of hardware, hitches and angles, pedestrian/operator safety, hand signals for slingers and operators, flipping/turning loads safely.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It will be held at the trainees' facility following completion of the in-class session. The length of this practical training part is an hour or two. Two operators at a time would be trained by the instructor on skills such as planning the lift, right rigging practices and safe operation.
After completing both the in-class instruction and the practical training and evaluation, the trainee would be tested via an exam. Each participant will be required to sign the safety rules. Individual wallet certificates would be given to successful trainees. The company will be given a framed wall certificate.
