Boom Lift License Whitby

Boom Lift License Whitby

Boom Lift License Whitby - Only fully licensed individuals should operate an aerial boom lift. Qualification could be attained through a combination of sessions in the classroom and practical training with the specific kind of aerial lift that will be utilized on the job. A License is needed for anybody who operates or works on an aerial boom lift.

Vehicle-mounted aerial devices consist of the following work vehicles: aerial ladders, extensible boom platforms, vertical towers, articulating boom platforms, and any combination of these kinds.

There are several basic safety regulations that apply to all boom lifts. Worker safety while within the basket is a top priority. Workers must put on a body harness and lanyard attached to the basket or boom. Never tie off to an adjacent pole, structure, or equipment. Employees should stand on the basket floor, and never sit or climb on the edge of the basket. The load restrictions of the manufacturer must be followed.

Aerial lift operators must be authorized to utilize the machines. The operator needs to know all the aspects of the device and should have access to the manufacturers guidebook which must be kept within the lift. Operators are responsible for ensuring that safety measures are followed in the operation of the lift. Testing lift controls each day must be performed. Set brakes and position outriggers (if they are used) on pads or a stable surface. When working on a slope, make use of wheel chocks.

Never move an aerial lift truck with an elevated boom whilst personnel are in the basket. Extensible boom platforms and articulating boom utilized as personnel carriers should have plainly marked, accessible, upper controls. Except in emergency cases, lower controls should not be used to override upper controls unless permission has been given by the individual in the lift.

While working from an aerial lift, do not wear tree or pole climbers.
Do not alter the insulated portion of the aerial lift.
Make sure that the booms are thoroughly checked, that the machine is properly cradled and the outriggers are in the stowed position prior to moving.
When operating a boom lift next to power lines, ensure the lines are di-electrically tested according to local rules.
